Even small steps toward reaching your goal should be celebrated. Rather than pampering yourself with food, choose to enjoy a facial, manicure, or massage instead.

Build a Support Group
Trying to change bad habits on your own is difficult, which is why you should build a support group of people who will cheer you on in your endeavors. You may even want to choose one person to be accountable to, or use the buddy system so that you and a friend can both help each other.
Think about the type of things that are likely to result in a setback, and then come up with a plan for dealing with them. You may want to look at ways to avoid certain triggers, or come up with practical solutions for overcoming temptation should you unexpectedly be faced with a trying situation.
Continuously remind yourself of the goals you have set, as this will make it less likely you will even consider succumbing to temptation in the first place. Write your goals down and keep them with you so that you can refer to them whenever you become discouraged or feel like giving in.
